Foundation year transition program

FOUNDATION YEAR TRANSITION PROGRAM for 2021 students

SESSION 1 – Wednesday, November 18th 2020

9.15 am to 10.45am

Students

In classrooms students will participate in hands on activities, songs, action rhymes, movement games and stories. They will go on a short tour of the school to visit the Art room, Library and to see the older children in action!

Parents

Upstairs in the staffroom, Val Landewee will deliver a presentation that covers our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support framework, how to support your child’s transition to school, social skill development and literacy development.

Morning tea will be provided.

SESSION 2 – Wednesday, November 25th 2020

9.15 am to 10.45am

Students

In classrooms students will participate in games, reading with the teacher and getting to know you activities with new friends.

Parents

Upstairs in the staffroom, parents are invited to a presentation about how Compass School Manager works, the different learning programs at RWPS including the bilingual program, online Reading Eggs and Mathletics programs.

Morning tea will be provided.

 

SESSION 3 – Wednesday, December 2nd 2020

 9.15 am to 10.45am

Students

Students are invited to a very special Teddy Bear’s Picnic for the final transition session. After participating in literacy activities in the classroom, children will share a morning tea of fruit and a drink of water outside in the school grounds. Children are invited to bring along their favourite teddy to share. Children will receive a Richmond West Show bag that contains information, stationery and activities to assist your child with their transition to school.

Parents

Upstairs in the staffroom, parents will have an opportunity to hear from an expert panel of current Foundation year students who will give their experience of life as a prep. There will be a question and answer session with the Principal Team and current parents.

Morning tea will be provided.
