Foundation year transition program

FOUNDATION YEAR TRANSITION PROGRAM for 2024 students

SESSION 1 – Wednesday, November 15th 2023
9:30 to 10:30am

Students
In classrooms students will participate in hands-on activities, songs, action rhymes, movement games and
stories. They will go on a short tour of the school to visit the Art room, Library and to see the older children in
action!

Parents
Upstairs in the Library, Rachel Ghabrial will deliver a presentation that covers the first four weeks of prep,
how to get your child ready for school, social skills development and how to support your child’s Literacy
development. A second hand uniform stall will also be set up in the Conference Room for anyone interested.
Morning tea will be provided.

SESSION 2 – Wednesday, 22nd November
9.30 am to 10:30am

Students
In classrooms students will participate in games, reading with the teacher and getting to know you activities
with new friends.

Parents
Upstairs in the Library, parents are invited to a presentation by Amanda Vinnicombe and Peter James who
will demonstrate how Compass School Manager provides you with access to your child’s attendance, semester
reports, news feed, excursions, parent/teacher conferences and payment options. A second hand uniform stall
will also be set up in the Conference Room for anyone interested.
Morning tea will be provided.

SESSION 3 – Wednesday 29th November
9.30- 11:00am

Students
Students are invited to a very special Teddy Bear’s Picnic for the final transition session. After participating in
literacy activities in the classroom, children will meet their year six buddy and share a morning tea of fruit,
teddy bear biscuits and a drink of water outside in the school grounds. Children are invited to bring along
their favorite teddy to share. Parent consent must be given via Compass. A second hand uniform stall will also
be set up in the Conference Room for anyone interested.

Parents
Upstairs in the Library, parents will have an opportunity to have informal chats with the Principal, Assistant
Principal and current parents and students. Morning tea will be provided.
